Labyrinth .79

Labyrinth is a 1986 movie with Jennifer Connelly facing down David Bowie in a fantasy world of muppet goblins. Along with the Princess Bride this movie has fallen into a niche of 80's fantasy movies that countless women quote and reference. It has some good imagination in parts but is overhyped and if you have a friend who says you just have to see it than you'll be left thinking about how much you would've enjoyed it if you'd grown up with it. It's slightly above mediocre; childish special effects, some time wasting slapstick scenes, and some really ungreat David Bowie music throws this film off track. It seems perfect for a modern remake but I'm sure there'd be rabid fangirls crying in the streets if it came to that. Still great to show younger kids, a good time waster, and even if it wasn't your cup o' tea there's some element that anyone will take away with them. (.79)
