Sukiyaki Western Django (.79)

A Takashi Miike over the top modern take on Spaghetti Westerns. There's a lot of cliches and there's a lot of mixing of previously unmixed elements. The visuals are great and everything has a high production value but it never sits as a finished film; it's a long list of scenes and ideas that never really gel together. It's in bad Engrish and the costume design is J-rock over the top but one gets the idea that you "have to" appreciate it all. However, even with many respectable parts the movie as a whole just isn't that entertaining leaving it more of a thrown together concept than a full movie experience. It's worth watching but lacks the soul that could've made it a cult classic; instead it's just more noise. (.79)
