Great game but unfortunately not enough Castlevania for me. This is supposedly a reboot and it does have a different feel than many previous Castlevanias. Certain themes and bits of music continue but unfortunately they could have called it by another name and it would believably not be a Castlevania game. Graphics are great, levels and the game are intricate and huge, the music is a great orchestral score. The story is good enough and intertwines well with the action. I feel it was maybe a bit too epic fantasy, which is great, but I need a little more action platforming horror. The best in the series continue to be the fast paced 2-D's, but as far as the 3-D Castlevanias, this is no slouch and brings no shame upon the brand. For many, this game will be just what they always wanted the series to be, for me I prefer nonsensical throwaway plots, great action platforming, and catchy techno metal video game music. Still, there's been enough bombs that this is ranking up there in the catalog as one of the better Castelvania games. (.89)
