Nintendo Wii Okami (.96)

Okami is a great game steeped in Japanese mythology and a cell shaded art style from Capcom. You play a wolf/god and face off against mythological characters with a calligraphy brush. It was one of the last good games on the PS2, I like it on the Wii because the use of the paintbrush in the game fits well with the Wii controller. Fights/battles are easier on the PS2 as there is enough of a learning curve to make it a slight pain on the Wii. Visually the game is beautiful and has unique art style mixing brushwork with cell shading and vivid colors. Minor controller handling issues aside, the only other thing keeping this game from perfection is the annoying voicing of the text dialogue; if this game was in Japanese audio with english subtitles it would have vaulted the game to the next level. Unique and iconic, there's a spin off on the DS and I would expect future installments on newer systems as Capcom has a clear success on their hands and there's still plenty more Japanese mythology to cover. And it's just interesting and pretty. (.96)
